Be Much More Productive with A Faster Windows XP
A slow PC should be a thing of the past. With advancement in innovations and technology, utilizing a slow computer will really make you feel living in the Jurassic era. Bcause of this that people usually search for ways to speed up their computers.
If you are on the same road, then you just came to correct place. Yes, there is a lot of tweaking and modifying involved in speeding up a PC. But then again, these uncomplicated sacrifices are always worth it.
Here is some of the tweaking I did to speed up my Windows:
> Getting bored with the menu delays is really annoying. Cut down the time to load menu transitions through right clicking your desktop. Select Properties and Click the Effects tab. Deselect the Animate windows menu lists. For Windows XP users, you can do this by right-clicking on the desktop, clicking Properties, choosing the Appearance tab, clicking the Effects option and deselect Use the following transition effects for menus and tooltips, then Select OK.
> Speed up Windows Start Up by deleting out the applications you dont need at start-up. For those who use Windows 98, you can do this by going to Start and clicking Run. Then enter MSConfig.exe and then choose OK. Hit the Start up tab then unmark the programs you want to discontinuethrough the startup. As you see, you may be able to speed start up Windows if you decrease the softwares that PC needs to run.
> Defrag may be an old school process but it doesnt fail to help anyone who has speed problems. Look for the defragement option on the System Tools. Be sure that you give a time for defragging. Running different programs while on defrag limits the process itself.
> Prefering to install your programs would be best if you frequently encounter script and other minor errors. Run a virus scan before you back up all of your important files Also, be sure that you have a copy of your hardware drivers and program installers before trying to delete the contents of your hard drive Reinstalling your software takes at least an hour or so
> Removing programs that you do not use. Software, though you are making use of them or not, eat up space in your hard disk. If you arent using them, then remove them.
